new single / must all roads

  • by

must all roads is the first single from mail order messiahs’ forthcoming album content. It is now available on Bandcamp, Apple and Spotify.

It was such a pleasure to record the album with Anthony Gibney in Audioland and collaborate with great musicians:

Dave Hingerty (Kila / The Frames) on drums.
Robbie Malone (David Gray) on bass.
Ben Shorten (The Chapters / Tomorrows / Whozyerman) on piano.

I’m also delighted that one of my favourite guitar players, the great Gerry Leonard (Spooky Ghost / David Bowie / Suzanne Vega) also appears on the album.

reviews

‘Mail Order Messiahs blaze an intriguing and distinctive trail with their slow, majestic and liberally embellished hybrid of electro, folk and soul. The music is marked by moments of startling beauty and the overall effect is ethereal and otherworldly, but undoubtedly compelling and arresting at the same time’ – Hot Press

‘exceedingly enjoyable’ – Sunday Times

‘it’s beatsy and blippy in all the right places but also melodic, musical and beautiful’ – RTE Music

‘augmented by stray presences and floating musicians their music is so up to date it’s next month…..most of all what we hear on their debut album, Plain, is utterly idiosyncratic and of its own‘ – Irish Times

‘Mike Liffey not only knows how to write great songs, but knows what great songs are supposed to sound like’ – Remy’s Music Blog

‘A restless, blissfully inventive album of cool noise’ – Alternative Ulster
